We want to let you know about two funding opportunities for diabetes coalitions in the Appalachian Region.
One is for established coalitions, called Together on Diabetes.DOC. This funding will enable coalitions to implement evidence-based programs for physical activity and healthy eating that reach the whole county. The RFP outlines the eligibility criteria. This will be a competitive grant application. Five grants will be awarded. The funding amount is $40,000 per year for four years.
The second funding opportunity is for new or emerging coalitions that have not been funded in the past. These planning grants aim to help establish or strengthen diabetes coalitions. The grants funds can be used for organizing events, publicity and training events. Marshall will also provide in-depth planning and technical assistance as part of the grant. The funding amount is $2,000. Eight planning grants will be awarded. Please refer to the RFP for eligibility criteria.
These funding opportunities are a partnership between the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Division of Diabetes Translation at the Center for Disease Control, and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation. The project is managed by the Center for Rural Health at Marshall University School of Medicine.
We will host a webinar October 23rd to describe the funding opportunities and answer questions. Log in times and links are listed in the RFPs.
Applications are due by 5pm, Friday November 16.
Feel free to contact any of us on the team if you have questions.
